A driver is being treated in hospital for a serious head injury after their car hit the central reservation on the M62.

Humberside Police said a blue Vauxhall Corsa crashed on the M62 westbound between junctions35 and 34 at 21:45 GMT on Friday.

Officers believe the vehicle came to a stop after the initial incident before it was then hit by a black Volvo.

The driver and passenger of the Volvo, a 36-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, were also taken to hospital, but police said their injuries were not thought to be serious.

Humberside Police said the motorway was closed for several hours afterwards but has now reopened.
