Man charged after pedestrian hit by van

A man has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent after a pedestrian was struck by a van.

Ricky Murphy, 29, was also charged with causing injury by dangerous driving following a crash on Prescott Road in Carlisle on Sunday.

The victim, a man in his 30s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Murphy, of Ferguson Place, Carlisle, is due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
