New youth centre includes recording studio and gym
Blackburn with Darwen CouncilA town's new youth centre will include a recording studio, gym, games room and salon, a council has said.
The purpose-built centre in Darwen, Lancashire, will be open seven days a week, including weeknights, weekends and school holidays.
A Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council spokesperson said finishing touches were being made to the centre after a year-long construction project. Once it opens, the centre will be operated by Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone.
Deputy Council Leader Julie Gunn said: "This project really is impressive. I walk around this facility and I know it is what our young people deserve - it's absolutely brilliant!"

It is being supported by the council, Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone and local businesses.
Wayne Wild, chair of Blackburn and Darwen Youth Zone, said: "To think we now have two Youth Zones right here in Blackburn with Darwen really is a proud moment for everyone involved."
More than 350 young people are already members of Darwen Youth Zone – and this number will double when the new centre opens, said a council spokesperson.
A community celebration day to mark the official opening will take place in April.
