Bus Éireann coach involved in serious crash near Enniskillen

Police are investigating a serious road traffic crash in County Fermanagh.

A Bus Éireann coach and a car were involved in the crash on Friday evening.

Emergency services attended the crash on the Derrylin Road near Enniskillen.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) said it received a 999 call at about 19:00 GMT. NIAS despatched two rapid response paramedics, two emergency crews and an ambulance officer to the incident.

A spokesperson said that "following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, no patients were taken to hospital". The Derrylin Road has since reopened.

Bus Éireann statement

In a statement, Bus Éireann confirmed that one of its Expressway Route 30 services was involved.

The Expressway Route 30 service runs between Dublin and Donegal.

The statement continued: "Bus Éireann and emergency services personnel attended the scene".

"The safety of our passengers, staff and the public is of paramount importance to Bus Éireann. We will provide any assistance required to the relevant authorities."

Ulster Unionist assembly member for the area Diana Armstrong said she wanted to pass her "sincere sympathy" to anyone affected by the crash.

"This junction, like many others, is a fast north-south road that is very heavily trafficked," she told BBC News NI.

"Coming though it there are a lot of intersecting country roads."
