Man charged after teen killed in hit-and-run
BBCA man has been charged with two offences in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a 19-year-old pub worker while he walked home in July.
Bailey Chadwick was struck by a vehicle on the B6265, between Pateley Bridge and Glasshouses, in the early hours of 20 July after earlier finishing a shift at the nearby Royal Oak pub.
A 25-year-old man was charged on Sunday night with driving a motor vehicle when over the prescribed limit and using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance, North Yorkshire Police said.
He is due to appear at Harrogate Magistrates' Court on 12 February. He remains under investigation for the offence of causing death by dangerous driving, officers said.
North Yorkshire Police said a woman in her 20s, who was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice, also remained under investigation.
Following the charge, Bailey's family said: "As we move towards Christmas this remains an incredibly difficult time for us, we kindly ask for privacy while we continue to grieve.
"We fully support the ongoing police investigation and trust that the process will bring justice for us, Bailey's family".
The force has continued to appeal for witnesses.
