Burger chain's Home Alone spoof ad gets 1m views
The Beefy BoysA Christmas advert created by a local burger chain has amassed one million views in 48 hours, according to the production firm that made it.
Anthony Murphy, a founder of The Beefy Boys, joked it was a "shame" the advert had been so well produced as they would have to top it next year.
The 2025 instalment, which was released on Wednesday, parodies Christmas classic film Home Alone, as a young boy is locked in The Beefy Boys restaurant overnight and has to stop two burglars from breaking in.
"When we wrote it we realised it was a mini-movie and wasn't a trailer anymore," Mr Murphy said.
"The whole idea came from wanting to parody John Lewis and that's how we started doing it, two years ago, so this is our third one.
"But we've had so much fun."
Mr Murphy said the whole shoot had taken three nights to film, which had been challenging because those involved are also "really busy" with their day jobs running restaurants in Hereford, Shrewsbury, Cheltenham, Bath and Oxford.
The Beefy BoysHe also said there were concerns whether they could do one of their "favourite Christmas films" justice.
He said prior to the shoot he was thinking "if we don't pull this off it's really going to fall flat".
Mr Murphy added: "We had to make sure the stunts had that element of 'ooh that looks real', but still funny.
"It was a hard balance to strike."
Asked if fans could expect this to become an annual tradition, he admitted: "We've made a real rod for our own back now and we even get people coming up to us asking when the next Christmas trailer is out."
