Firefighters are tackling a large fire at a recycling plant in County Londonderry.

Emergency services were called just before 15:00 BST to the fire on Clooney Road, Londonderry.

Six fire appliances are in attendance.

The fire is in approximately 700 to 800 tonnes of scrap metal and 51 firefighters are currently working to bring it under control.

A fire can be seen in the distance across a steel metal fence. There is a large smoke cloud.

Geoff Somerville, Group Commander with the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, said crews are likely to remain on-site until Tuesday morning.

Police are advising all local residents and business owners close their windows and doors as there is "a substantial amount of smoke in the air".
