A body has been found following a fire at the same Co Offaly home where a young boy and his great-aunt died in an arson attack in December 2025.

Gardaí (Irish police) said: "The body of an adult person has been discovered inside the premises" at Castleview Park in Edenderry.

The incident occurred at the same house where four-year-old Tadhg Farrell and his great-aunt Mary Holt were killed in December last year.

Emergency services were called to the scene in the early hours of Tuesday morning and Gardaí say they are investigating "all the circumstances" of the fire.

The scene has been preserved for forensic examination.

Gardaí said: "A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death, which will determine the course of any Garda investigation."

After the attack in 2025, the young boy's grandmother also received hospital treatment for serious burn injuries.
