Suffolk Police wants to speak to three men in connection with the early hours shooting

A peahen was shot and killed during an early hours shooting, prompting the police to launch an investigation.

Suffolk Police wants to talk to three men after the bird was targeted at about 02:30 GMT on Tuesday on Highman Road, in Gazeley near Newmarket.

According to the force, it was reported that the suspects entered private land and shone powerful torches into some trees before then discharging an air weapon.

They then left the scene in a dark coloured car and police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Peahens are female peafowls and can live between 10 and 25 years in the wild
