East of England skies lit by Northern Lights
SIMON LUCKMAN/BBC WEATHER WATCHERSSkies across the East of England have revealed the beauty and colour of the Aurora Borealis - or Northern Lights.
People across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk, Northamptonshire and Suffolk captured the green and pink glow on Monday night.
This naturally occurring spectacle is the result of solar eruptions sending particles towards the Earth and interacting with particles in the atmosphere.
Coloured skies are mostly visible near the Arctic Circle, but at times of high solar activity can be seen in other areas - including the UK.
