Your photos: Northern Lights dazzle in the skies
BBC Weather Watchers/Ben Pugh
Ben GouldingThe Aurora Borealis, commonly known as the Northern Lights, could be seen around the West Midlands on Monday night.
The natural phenomenon is the result of solar eruptions sending particles towards the Earth and interacting with particles in the atmosphere.
They are usually easier to see under clear skies but, as you can see from these photos taken by BBC Weather Watchers, they could be seen through clouds too.

The signal for aurora is not as strong for Tuesday night, so it will not extend as far south, and skies will be cloudier across the UK.
