Reading Borough Council's redesigned Civic Centre reception has opened its doors for the first time, which said it "marks a bold new chapter for the heart of our town."

The authority's leader Liz Terry said the improvement at the Bridge Street complex is "extremely impressive".

Reading's Central Library is set to move into the building later this year from its current base off Kings Road.

The council said the Civic Centre has a digital check-in service and will continue to be the home of the borough's Registration Service and Register Office.
