A man has been left seriously injured in a crash in North Yorkshire, prompting a police appeal.

A white Toyota Aygo and a grey Audi Q2 collided at the junction of the A658 with the B6163 at Calcutt, near Knaresborough, at about 07:40 GMT on Monday.

The Toyota driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital via air ambulance and remains in a serious condition, North Yorkshire Police said. The driver of the Audi is helping officers with their investigation, according to the force.

Officers asked for those who witnessed the incident to get in touch. The A658 was closed for most of Monday to allow for collision investigation work and recovery to take place.
