One airlifted to hospital after crash on main road

One person has been taken to hospital after a crash, involving two vehicles, on a major North Yorkshire road during rush hour on Monday.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at the junction of the A658 and B6163 near Knaresborough, at 07:40 GMT, according to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

"An ambulance, a specialist paramedic (critical care), and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene, and one patient was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary," a spokesperson said.

North Yorkshire Police said an "urgent" road closure had been put in place on the A658 following the collision.
