Two men have been arrested after cannabis plants valued at £491,000 were seized from an abandoned building on Droitwich high street.

The operation was discovered after community members raised concerns with West Mercia Police about the growing of the Class B drug.

Officers said they found 600 plants in nine rooms across three floors.

The men, aged 20 and 39, were arrested on Wednesday morning on suspicion of the production of a controlled drug and remain in police custody.

Sgt Shaun Blackshaw said: "Grows like this one are linked to organised criminal gangs whose actions reap harm on the communities we are here to protect and serve.

“The drugs they sell have a negative impact on our communities and can lead to other criminality, or the harm and exploitation of vulnerable people."
