Thousands gather in Hull to celebrate Pride

Hull Pride celebrated diversity and inclusivity

Huge crowds gathered in Hull on Saturday to mark the city's Pride event.

Thousands arrived, many dressed in rainbow colours, for the parade at 09:30 BST.

Pop acts Louise and Max George and DJ Stephanie Hirst entertained the crowds on the main stage at Zebedee's Yard in the afternoon.

Miss Naomi Carter, from RuPaul's Drag Race made a special appearance.

Felix from Hull managed to get a spot at the front of the parade. He said: “ It’s tremendous. All this support from the citizens of Hull.”

Harry Bradford from Hull Roundheads Rugby, who he described as Hull’s first inclusive LGBTQ+ friendly rugby team, said: “Hull Pride is phenomenal. It’s getting bigger each year, the crowds supporting the event are getting larger.”

Pride in Hull chair person, Andy Train, said: “Our goal is to raise awareness and understanding of gender diversity. Through these performances and educational initiatives, we hope to promote acceptance and respect for all individuals, regardless of their gender identity or expression.”

There was a silent disco at Princes Quay, a community market spanning King Edward and Savile streets and the Hull Freedom Quarter and a “Trans Square” in Queen Victoria Square.

Mr Train said “This isn’t just a celebration – it’s a powerful statement of visibility, inclusivity, and the vibrant diversity that makes our community shine.”
