Scotland's most popular music festival will bring forward the set time of their headliner so revellers can watch Scotland play in the World Cup.

TRNSMT's Friday headliner Richard Ashcroft will take to the stage earlier than planned so fans can stay behind to catch kick-off for the Scotland v Morocco game at 23:00.

Festival organisers say the "largest screens in the country" will be in Glasgow Green to show the match.

The tournament is the first time Scotland have reached the World Cup in 28 years.

The opening day of the festival takes place on 19 June at Glasgow Green, with former Verve singer Richard Ashcroft the headline act.

Organisers have said his set will finish in plenty of time for festival-goers to soak in the pre-match atmosphere.

Scotland play Morocco at 23:00 that night, in their second match at the World Cup.

That time is the usual curfew for TRNSMT, with the headliner typically performing from about 21:30-23:00.

All Friday and weekend TRNSMT ticket holders will be able to stay and watch the game.

Geoff Ellis, chief executive of DF Concerts said: "This is going to be a historic moment for the festival and one we are incredibly excited about,. It's sure to be a night that will live long in the memory.

"I couldn't think of a better addition to the Main Stage line-up than the Scotland national team, and showing the game will create a unique atmosphere, bringing the Hampden roar to Glasgow Green.

"Giving our fans the chance to see their favourite bands and then watch the game with thousands of Scotland fans in a World Cup is the stuff dreams are made of, and it shows exactly how TRNSMT is much more than a music festival."

Glasgow City Council has granted license extensions for pubs and bars across the city during the football tournament.

Scotland's three matches kick off at 02:00 against Haiti, 23:00 against Morocco on 19 June and at 23:00 against Brazil on 24 June.

A number of other matches during the tournament kick off at 03:00 and 05:00, meaning some pubs and bars could therefore remain open until after 07:00.

Some other venues, such as the OVO Hydro, have already announced plans to hold World Cup watch parties.
