TRNSMT festival could change times for Scotland World Cup game
PAScotland's most popular music festival could alter stage times at next year's event to allow people the chance to watch the national team at the World Cup.
The opening day of the festival takes place on 19 June at Glasgow Green, with former Verve singer Richard Ashcroft the headline act. However, Scotland play Morocco at 23:00 that night, in their second match at the World Cup.
That time is the usual curfew for TRNSMT, with the headliner typically performing from about 21:30-23:00. DF Concerts boss Geoff Ellis has now said all options are being explored to allow fans time to watch the match.
The tournament is the first time Scotland have reached the World Cup in 28 years.
Mr Ellis, the festival director, said: "Obviously it's very early days as the World Cup and TRNSMT are still over six months away.
"As you would expect there is flexibility in timings and we will be ensuring that music fans can enjoy the TRNSMT line up as well as watching Scotland's second game on the road to bringing the World Cup home to the birthplace of football."
It is understood the festival promoters are interested in possibly showing the game at Glasgow Green once the music has finished for the day, with a source close to TRNSMT saying organisers were exploring the idea.
Other acts playing on the Friday of TRNSMT - which is taking place earlier than usual next year - include Wolf Alice, Nile Rodgers and the Beta Band.
Scotland qualified for the World Cup in dramatic circumstances in November, following a thrilling 4-2 win over Denmark at Hampden Park.
They will kick off their tournament against Haiti on June 14 at 02:00, before playing Morocco five days later. The final group game for manager Steve Clarke and his team will be against Brazil on 24 June, at 23:00.
Some fans have hit out regarding the high price of tickets for all of the games at the competition, which is being held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
