An inquest has been opened and adjourned after a man was found dead at a house.

Lee Mathers, 56, was discovered at a property on Park Avenue in Werrington, Staffordshire, on the evening of 26 November last year.

Five people were arrested on suspicion of murder, Staffordshire Police has said. They have all been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.

The inquest was opened and adjourned earlier at Stoke-on-Trent coroner's court at Swann House in Stoke.

Mathers' family said he was a "very popular local man", who would "help anyone in their time of need".

Two 31-year-old men, a 29-year-old man, a 23-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy were arrested.
