Woman taken to hospital after serious assault in Perth

A woman has been taken to hospital following a serious assault in Perth.

Emergency services were called to Dunkeld Road at about 14:45 on Monday.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident

Police said it had been contained and there was no wider threat to the public.

The road has been closed and the public have been asked to avoid the area in the meantime.

Insp Stephen Gray said: "We're aware a number of people have witnessed this incident and will be concerned.

"I'd like to reassure the public, this is contained and there's no wider threat.

"Officers will remain in the area while our inquiries continue.

"I'd ask anyone who witnessed what happened or has footage of the incident to contact police."
