Man arrested after woman punched on train

British Transport Police officers have arrested a man in connection with the incident

A man has been arrested after a woman was punched and had her hair pulled during an assault on a train.

According to the British Transport Police, the victim was attacked just before 17:00 GMT on Sunday by a man who had boarded the train at Swinton.

The woman left the train at Mexborough, while the man was forced off the train by intervening passengers at Conisbrough, where he was arrested for affray and assaulting an emergency service worker.

British Transport Police officers are appealing for the victim, and any passengers who witnessed the incident, to come forward.
