A former pub is to be turned into flats, after planners approved a redevelopment scheme.

Developers said they would keep the Art Deco facade of the Tipsy Toad Town House, in central St Helier, but rearrange it inside to create 15 flats plus three units of short-term visitor accommodation.

The building, which has been empty since 2019, has been used as a pub and music venue, but it did not make enough money and kept changing owners, the planning application said.

The redevelopment also include storage for motorbikes, bicycles and bins but no car parking spaces.

The plan to turn the Tipsy Toad Town House into housing will also give a boost to the local construction industry, the application said.
