Murder arrest over death of man found on pavement

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a man two weeks after being found unconscious on a street in Birmingham.

Michael Bennett, 38, was found on the pavement on Reservoir Road in Erdington just before 01:00 GMT on 27 March. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and died on 1 April.

A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody, West Midlands Police said.

The force is appealing for witnesses, particularly those who were near the scene between 21:30 and 00:55 GMT on 27 March. It added that some people had tried to help Bennett but had not yet come forward.
