Two men have been arrested over the death of a man after an incident on an Inverness street

Police were called to Balloan Road at about 08:25 on Friday after reports of three injured men outside a property on the street.

Two of the men were taken to hospital by the Scottish Ambulance Service, while the third made his own way to hospital. One man was pronounced dead on arrival.

The two surviving men, aged 38 and 21, were treated for minor injuries before being discharged from hospital and arrested over the incident.

Police Scotland said extensive inquiries were ongoing.

Balloan Road was closed between Balloan Court and Morvich Way while an investigation is carried out.

Det Ch Insp John Lumsden said there would be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

He added: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died, at this very difficult time."
