Rugby fans in East Yorkshire will have the chance to see the Women's Rugby World Cup trophy later as part of a tour across England.

It will be on show at Driffield Rugby Union Football Club, in Kelleythorpe, at 19:00 GMT.

Lauren Dean, the club's director of women and girls rugby, said they "jumped at the chance" when the sport's governing body in this country, Rugby Football Union, asked them to host the trophy on its tour.

"For them to choose our club as part of that tour was a real honour," she said. "We were thrilled that they asked us to get on board with it."

The trophy is touring following the success of the England women's rugby team, which won the World Cup by beating Canada in the final on September 27 2025.

Dean said the tour was a "great opportunity to showcase the success of the national side".

Driffield has two women's teams as well as a junior section

The club said the event would bring together players and supporters to celebrate women's rugby and highlight the local enthusiasm for the women's game.

Driffield's women's team started almost 10 years ago with only a handful of members, but it has since grown to have two full teams.

It also has a junior section, which started about five years ago. Players from both have gone on to represent Yorkshire.

"We are seeing some quality junior players coming through those ranks," Dean said.

"I'm sure some of those young players will have aspirations to go beyond county and will hope to play for their country one day.

"To see that trophy come to their club and recognise that pathway is now available to them ... hopefully some of them will see their name in lights and get into the national squad."

Anyone is welcome to attend.
