A 63-year-old man has been ordered to attend court to face a charge of raping a woman aged in her 20s two years ago.

Dorset Police were called to assist the alleged victim in Weymouth shortly after 22:30 BMT on Sunday 18 February 2024.

She told officers she had been raped about an hour beforehand in an alleyway between Stanley Street, Derby Street and Queen Street.

Russell Tudor Jones, of Weymouth, has been issued with a summons to appear before Weymouth magistrates on Friday.

Det Insp Shaun Inkpen said: "We have continued to provide support to the victim and keep her fully updated throughout our detailed investigation.

"We would... urge members of the public to refrain from speculation or commentary relating to this case, particularly online and on social media."
