The way the next phase of a major development at the former Horlicks factory will look has been released by its developer.

The Slough factory was first opened in 1908 and was acquired in 2019 by Berkeley Homes, which has got permission for 1,300 homes at the Horlicks Quarter.

It said it has built 550 homes on the site and another 116 apartments are planned in The Maltings, which it said was designed with a "respectful nod" to the site's former use.

The developer is also behind other plans to build 1,600 homes in Slough's town centre in a major revamp of its Queensmere and Observatory shopping centres.

Berkeley Homes said it has always wanted to "respect" the site's "legacy"

Dave Taylor, Berkeley Homes' design director, said: "Horlicks Quarter has always been a site with deep cultural and architectural significance, and our priority has always been to respect that legacy.

"By taking cues from the original factory and designing with both respect and purpose, with The Maltings, we've created homes that feel rooted in the history of the place while meeting the needs of modern living."
