Body found in search for missing teenager

Police searching for a missing Lancaster University student have found a body.

Tom Dingle, 19, from Appley Bridge, Lancashire, was last on CCTV on Mill Lane in the village heading towards the Boathouse pub in the early hours of 13 December.

Lancashire Police said they were contacted by a member of the public who had found a body in woodland off Lees Lane in Dalton just after 15:00 GMT on Christmas Day.

Formal identification has yet to take place, but they believe it to be Mr Dingle, whose death is not being treated as suspicious.
