Survey to review cash payments in Jersey

A scrutiny panel is asking people for their views on making cash payments in Jersey.

The Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel said it was investigating the acceptance of cash by businesses and whether there was a need for government intervention.

It has launched a survey to understand the opinions and experiences of people, businesses and organisations on using cash in public places.

Chair of the panel Deputy Montfort Tadier said the survey would "allow us to gather further valuable insights that will help the panel make informed findings and recommendations to government".

The panel said possible interventions included obliging all businesses to accept cash or to consider phasing out cash completely.

The survey will close on Wednesday 31 July and paper copies are available at the States Greffe at Morier House.
