Canal search over reports of person in water

Searches continued on the canal at Bentley Bridge, Wolverhampton on Monday

Emergency services are withdrawing their searches on a canal amid reports that a person was in the water.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to Bentley Bridge in Wolverhampton at about 20:10 GMT on Sunday.

No-one was located despite extensive searches, with West Midlands Fire Service using a raft, underwater and thermal imaging cameras and sonar equipment.

Officers confirmed no-one had been unaccounted for after returning to the area on Monday, said West Midlands Police.
