A West Northamptonshire councillor has stepped down from her senior role after eight months in post.

Kathryn Shaw is no longer cabinet member for children, families and education, council leader Mark Arnull, of Reform UK, has confirmed

Instead, Arnull would cover the position on an interim basis until a new cabinet appointment was confirmed, a council spokeswoman said.

This is the first change to the council's cabinet positions since Arnull made his initial appointments last spring.

According to her attendance record, Shaw has been present for 100% of expected meetings, including full council, cabinet and the children's trust joint committee.

Arnull said: "I would like to thank Kathryn for her contributions to the children's, families and education portfolio during the formative months of our new administration as we continue to progress our work in making our area the best place to live, work and thrive."

The authority has a cabinet of 10 senior councillors, including Arnull, who is chosen by full council.

He then appoints his remaining nine members from among the controlling political administration, which is currently Reform UK.

Cabinet members are each responsible for a specific portfolio area of services and meet regularly to decide the strategic management and direction of the local authority.

Shaw has been contacted for comment, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
