A local church has created its own light up 3D advent calendar again, which aims to help young people be more creative.

Quarry Chapel Church in Cam, Gloucestershire, has lined its fence with 24 red boxes filled with arts and crafts made by locals which are switched on every day during advent from 15:30 to 19:00 GMT.

Multiple boxes have been made by locals schools and residential homes, with a waiting list forming of those eager to participate.

Abi Nicol, who works at the Quarry Chapel, said: "They are incredible, we've got so many inventive and exciting 3D crafts going on here."

Some of the crafts are made with recycled materials from a scrap store, such as traffic light covers used to make sweets and candy canes to decorate the fence.

Groups of children visit the calendar daily.

"It's a free something to have a look at over Christmas. Everyone who comes by thinks it's just delightful," Ms Nicol said.

The church also offers wellbeing classes throughout the week.

"We create a really safe and inviting environment, with fun activities for them to build their confidence up," she added.
