Gardening equipment donated after cannabis raid

Hundreds of gardening items found at a cannabis farm have been donated to community causes.

Police discovered about 2,000 cannabis plants during a raid at a former printers on Frances Street in Crewe, Cheshire, on Friday.

Cheshire Police said a number of people had been living at the premises where the growth had an estimated value of £1.5m. No arrests have been made.

Since the discovery, the force has donated some of the cultivation material to allotments and primary schools, including compost, garden canes, flower pots and fertiliser.

In addition, schools have benefitted from electric fans, with lighting provided to a pigeon flying club.

Compost and other items have been given to the YMCA in Crewe.

Insp Cliff Goodwin said he was pleased that something positive had come out of the seizure.

“This is a great example of our officers acting on intelligence and working together to target the premises, recovering a huge amount of cannabis while re-purposing the items used to grow the plants into something which benefits the community,” he said.
