People in Jersey are being warned about a telephone scam affecting islanders.

States of Jersey Police said it had been made aware of the scam involving callers claiming to be from a customer's bank and requesting an immediate transfer of a large sum of money.

"Scammers claim a member of bank staff is in the person’s bank account preparing to remove money and [claim] the person being targeted cannot trust staff from their bank and should not trust bank members of staff," the force said on Facebook.

Anyone who believes they have been targeted by scammers have been urged to call police.
