House of Commons speaker to visit Jersey

The speaker of the House of Commons Sir Lindsay Hoyle is set to visit Jersey.

The Bailiff's Chambers said Hoyle would meet with members of the States Assembly and ministers to discuss Jersey's "political and constitutional relationship with the United Kingdom".

It added members of Jersey's government would be able to share perspectives on Assembly practice and other aspects including Jersey's parish system.

Hoyle will also lay a wreath at the Cenotaph in memory of the island's service men and women "honouring those who gave their lives in the service of their country".

The Bailiff's Chamber said the speaker would also learn about Jersey's occupation and liberation and would also visit Gorey Castle.

He will visit on Thursday and Friday.
