Arrest after shop robberies on Boxing Day

A BB gun was later seized by officers, police said

A man has been arrested by armed police following two robberies on Boxing Day.

Kent Police said officers were called to reports of staff being threatened with a firearm and cash and cigarettes stolen after a man entered shops in Hythe Road, Willesborough, and St Katherine's Crescent, Sellinge, on Friday morning.

A 39-year-old man, from Lyminge, remains in police custody, said the force.

Officers also seized a BB gun and cash, it added.
