Plans for 120 homes on green belt land submitted
PA MediaPlans for 120 new homes to be built on land in Bradford designated as green belt have been submitted.
Patchett Developments Ltd has filed an application with Bradford Council to build a mix of 120 terraced, semi-detached and detached properties off Florida Road in Sandy Lane.
Plans said 35% of the proposed development would be designated as affordable housing.
The developer's outline application states the scheme would be an "appropriate development" on green belt land, as the site was previously developed land, now termed grey belt.
Nineteen letters objecting to the development have been lodged with the council since the application was submitted.
In July 2024 a planning system overhaul by the government pledged to deliver 1.5 million homes over the next five years.
The plans included freeing up low-quality green belt land to become part of a 'grey belt' to allow new homes to be built.
In their planning statement Patchett Developments said the scheme would occupy a 4.04 hectare site currently in agricultural pasture use.
The developer said the scheme's "affordable housing delivery and sustainable location" and the current nationwide housing shortage meant the benefits of the development outweighed any green belt harm.
