Eastbrook Hall was saved with the help of King Charles 25 years ago when it fell into a poor state

An application has been submitted to keep a storage shed that was built next to a heritage building in Bradford without permission.

The 38sqm (409sqft) structure, with a roller shutter entrance, was appeared in November next to Eastbrook Hall on Leeds Road.

The Grade II-listed building, which dates back to 1903, was saved with the help of King Charles 25 years ago, when it fell into a poor state.

Through the Phoenix Trust, which is part of the Prince's Trust, the hall was restored and plans have recently been made to convert it into studio flats.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the shed sits in a narrow space between the hall and a neighbouring building.

A retrospective planning application to retain it has now been submitted to Bradford Council by London-based M & N Builders Properties 3 Ltd.

The application said: "The proposed storage shed is ancillary to Eastbrook Hall and is required solely for storage purposes, with no habitable use and no impact on the building's historic function.

"The shed is positioned with a 110mm separation gap from the existing building to ensure no physical attachment, structural loading, or impact on the building fabric.

"Access is provided via a roller shutter to the front, with the rear of the shed remaining open."

The building was the Bradford Methodist Mission before being converted into office space.

A decision on the application is expected next month.
