Camp Bestival has announced Fatboy Slim, Self Esteem and Bastille will headline this year at the family-focused festival.

The four‑day event, now in its 18th year, returns to Lulworth Castle, Dorset, from 30 July to 2 August.

Fatboy Slim will run the Castle Stage on Sunday for the festival's first ever "Fatboy Slim and Friends All Day Takeover", where the band will be joined by surprise guests including hip hop pioneers De La Soul.

Bastille are confirmed for their Camp Bestival debut on Saturday night, following a warm-up set from rapper and producer Example.

On Friday, pop artist Self Esteem will headline, with soul legend Billy Ocean also appearing.

They join a varied line-up that includes indie veterans Black Grape, drum and bass icons Fabio & Grooverider, DJ Fat Tony, Josh Wink, Toploader, and rising artists such as Brooke Coombe, Ellur and The Guest List.

Festival favourites Joe Marler, Sara Cox, Dick and Dom, Mister Maker, Blippi and Mr Tumble will also return.

Festival co-curator Rob da Bank said: "Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim has been part of our story since the beginning, and we know he's gonna bring the party for the Sunday night finale."

Curators Rob and Josie da Bank have called the festival their quest to "reinvent family time"

The festival co-curator and creative director Josie da Bank said how much she loves pulling the event together.

"I teleport myself back to my own childhood and think about all the things that made me feel really happy and free," she said.

This year will be seaside themed, with the da Banks describing the event as their quest to "reinvent family time".

Norman Cook joked he "can't think of anybody more qualified than me to be providing the authentic seaside experience".

He added: "I think the genius of Camp Bestival is the multigenerational raving, it's kind of for kids, but it's kind of for adults too. The two seem to co-exist in a very interestingly symbiotic way."

The festival sees the combination of live entertainment with hundreds of family activities, in the form of educational workshops, dance classes and trampoline parks.

Among the offerings this year will be the Allotment, a collaboration with gardener August Beth featuring seed‑sowing workshops and a "Vegetable Museum".

Beekeeping sessions will be run by a local Dorset apiarist and the Earth's Crust Bread School will return for baking lessons with baker David Wright.

Shakespeare's Globe workshops will also transform children's stories into interactive drama.
