A major motorway has reopened after a collision led to an oil spill.

Traffic was held on the M1 northbound between junction 14 near Milton Keynes and junction 15 for Northampton from about 05:30 GMT.

Emergency services were called to the scene and tailbacks formed before lanes were gradually reopened.

National Highways said the scene was clear just after 09:00 and thanked drivers for their patience.
