Waste collections in parts of Suffolk are due to resume after being suspended for safety reasons because of heavy snowfall.

East Suffolk Council has advised people who missed out on having their rubbish collected earlier this week to leave their bins outside their properties so crews can empty them as soon as possible from Wednesday.

The council had said on Monday that bins would not be picked up "until further notice" due to cold weather affecting road conditions.

To allow time for crews to catch up with the delayed collections, the garden waste service would be suspended for the rest of this week until Saturday, the authority added.

It also said it wanted to remind residents to place all waste in the bins, with the lids closed, as crews would not take any rubbish left next to or on top of bins.

Towns in the district including Aldeburgh, Beccles, Felixstowe, Lowestoft and Woodbridge have been affected by the delays.
