A man and a woman were seriously injured when their car left the road and hit a tree.

Lancashire Police said the pair, both in their 50s, were hurt in the crash on Whalley Old Road, Blackburn, just before 14:00 GMT on Friday.

The force said their white Mercedes C250 had left the carriageway and "continued over the grass verge and then collided with a tree".

Sgt Stuart Hart said "our thoughts remain with them and their loved ones at this time". Police have appealed for any dashcam or CCTV footage of the crash.
