Traffic lights broken after drink-drive crash
Leanne StevensonMotorists are being warned to drive carefully on a dual-carriageway after traffic lights were damaged by a suspected drink-driver.
Wiltshire Police said the lights outside the Blunsdon Arms pub on Thamesdown Drive were out of use after a single-vehicle crash in the early hours of Saturday.
It said the driver of the vehicle, who was taken to hospital as a precaution, was arrested on suspicion of taking without consent and drink-driving.
Swindon Borough councillor Leanne Stevenson said the highways team were aware of the issue and encouraged drivers to take care during the "busy shopping period".
"Please slow down, approach with caution, and allow more stopping distance," she said.
The lights, which are on the junction with Elstree Way, are close to the Orbital Shopping Park and the A417.
