Bridlington will host its 11th Kite Festival in May, the council has announced.

Internationally renowned kite fliers will provide displays and demonstrations, and the popular parachuting teddy bear drops will be back.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Nick Coultish said the festival was a "landmark event on the East Riding coast and draws thousands of visitors to Bridlington".

The event will be held on Sewerby cliff top from 10:00 to 17:00 BST over the weekend of 16 and 17 May.

Admission to the event is free and visitors can participate with loaned kites during supervised sessions or buy their own from the kite stalls.

The authority said there would be street food trucks and dessert stalls, with hot and cold drinks, ice cream vans and fairground rides.

Bridlington Kite Festival is organised by the council's Visit East Yorkshire events team.

The festival is held in partnership with the Northern Kite Group, whose members provide kites and stage musical routines.
