Police were called on Sunday, 22 March after a man was stabbed in the Moreton Hall area

A man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing has been released on bail.

Suffolk Police were called just before 22:15 GMT last Sunday to Mortimer Road in Bury St Edmunds after a man in his 40s was found injured. The force said five suspects wearing dark clothing and face coverings were reported fleeing from the scene, in Moreton Hall.

A 44-year-old man from Brixton, who was arrested in south London and brought to Suffolk for questioning, has now been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, although his condition has since been described as serious, but stable by police.
