Guernsey politician Jonathan Le Tocq has submitted his resignation from the island's government, after admitting creating indecent images of children.

Last week he pleaded guilty to 15 charges relating to creating more than 2,000 indecent images of children, and also admitted possessing extreme pornography and various telecoms offences.

He was arrested on 21 July and resigned from the island's top political committee on 1 September, but until his resignation is accepted, he remains a politician in receipt of his salary.

Politicians are due to discuss the resignation when they meet next week.
