Council proposes crackdown on nuisance parkers
GoogleA local authority in east Surrey is considering taking action to crack down on drivers mounting and parking on pavements.
Tandridge District Council is proposing to enforce a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) in parts of Caterham to prevent the "inappropriate use" of mopeds, motorbikes, e-scooters, cars, lorries and buses.
The order will apply along parts of Godstone Road and Croydon Road - including the service road leading to the Waitrose and Lidl car parks - as well as all of Station Avenue.
A online consultation into the plan, which would apply to both moving and parked vehicles, will run until the end of December.
A PSPO is a legal order used to help tackle anti-social behaviour in public spaces.
It is a tool given to the likes of councils under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
