Town library to reopen after refurbishment

A public library is to reopen later this month following a 12-week refurbishment.

North Bridlington Library has been redecorated and had new shelving and lighting installed.

Work was funded by a £250,000 grant from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport Libraries Improvement Fund, along with additional council funding.

The money has also been spent on upgrading the town's central library.

The revamped library on Martongate now has a dedicated Health Zone which will allow people to get health checks in private.

It also incorporates a space for community meetings and events with a "living wall" featuring plants.

The junior library has been relocated to the front of the building and now includes a sensory room.

Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, described the library as "a cherished space for local residents".

He added: ''The recent upgrades have truly transformed the library into a modern, welcoming environment, designed with a focus on delivering an inclusive and exceptional experience for all visitors.

"We're confident that everyone will enjoy exploring the refreshed space and all it has to offer."

The library is scheduled to reopen on 25 November.
