Two people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a house near York.

Ambulance crews were called to The Village in Strensall just before 07:00 BST, according to Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

Homeowner Trevor Pulleyn said he woke up to a noise which he thought was his TV remote control falling off the bed and did not think much more of it until his neighbour later knocked on the door.

Mr Pulleyn said his neighbour asked him: "You know you had a bay window? You don't anymore."

Police have cordoned off the area around the damaged house and the vehicle has been removed.
