A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found unresponsive at a home.

Suffolk Police were called at 01:10 GMT on Tuesday to Russet Road, Ipswich - a modern housing estate between Woodbridge Road and the cemetery - following concerns for the welfare of a woman.

A 28-year-old woman was found unresponsive, and she was declared dead a short time later.

Paul Stevenson, 39, of Fletcher Road, Ipswich, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Ipswich Magistrates' Court later.

Police believe the dead woman and the man who was arrested were known to each other

A post-mortem examination on Wednesday determined the cause of death needed further investigation, police said.

The force previously said they were treating her death as "suspicious".

They believed it was an isolated incident, and the two were understood to be known to each other.
